Treat for your eyes and your tummy!

Chair Re-do.....

I actually found this chair at someone's curbside toss out a few years ago and I painted it white and put a cute pink fabric on it for Rylie's nursery. Since then it has been in our attic and I decided to give it a second chance:) So, I painted it with Sherwin William's Quietude (LOVE this color...it is in my living room) and then hand sanded it and dry brushed it with a taupe color I found for 50 cents at Lowe's. Then I very lightly glazed it with a mocha glaze, but only sporadically...not all over. Then came the seat. I LOVE burlap right now, so I printed out the dictionary definition for "fox" and ironed it on to the burlap. Then I picked at the edges until it looked nice and worn and then stapled the burlap to the seat. Easy Breezy and only cost a couple of dollars because I had most everything on hand. So treat your eyes and then scroll down for a link to a FREE bagel and cream cheese at Brueggers! Enjoy:)

Before & After....

I realize that I never posted the finished burlap wreath, so here it is:

If you would like one, I am making these for spring:) See Craig's list for pricing under "arts and crafts". I will prob put on the Etsy store soon. $5.00 off each one if you mention "Carrotstew". Thanks!

I got this gem from Craig's list for a mere $10....it had a bad spot from someone's child spilling nail polish remover on it. After scoping out the mis-tints at Lowe's, I scored some paint for .50 cents and already had a warm brown glaze to work with. After a light sand, painting and distressing by hand...voila! My new coffee table:)

Credit where credit is due....my little grasshopper helped me "make it look old". She was proud of her handiwork:) Love her!

Make your own baby food

My little man has been test-driving some of my new creations and he hasn't found one yet that he won't devour. These are super easy, fast and tasty homemade baby foods to try with your wee one. Enjoy!

**The key is to use a mini food processor or a mini chopper (like the Bullet).

Blueberry-Carrot Delight

1/4 to 1/2 cup fresh blueberries, washed
10-12 baby carrots
a pinch of brown sugar

Boil carrots in a saucepan with just enough water to cover bottom of pan, for about 5 minutes. Place blueberries and carrots in food processor with about 3 or tablespoons of water. Add a pinch of brown sugar and puree. (It is good like this, or you can add a bit of baby oatmeal and mix). Be sure to let this cool before feeding to baby!

Sweet Potato Yum-Yum (*Cohen's Current favorite!)

1/2 sweet potato
4-5 mandarin orange slices
3-4 tbsp juice from mandarin oranges
dash of cinnamon

Bake or boil sweet potato. Remove skin and add to food processor, along with oranges, juice and cinnamon. Puree and be sure it has cooled. Done!

Carrot Mix-up

10 baby carrots
about 1/2 of a large Gala apple
(optional..add 1/2 banana)

Boil carrots as described above, this time adding diced, peeled apple. Puree...cool...feed to drooling baby:)

You can take these and run with them! You can always mix it up and add new flavors...this week I will be making creations with peaches and green beans, too!

Burlap Wreath

I apologize profusely for my lack of blogging lately! It seem that between the end-of-the-year holidays, selling our house, moving into a rental and purchasing a new home, my crafti-ness has taken a backseat! Hopefully I will be back on the horse as soon as we get moved in to the new casa and I can locate my hot glue gun!

In the meantime, I will put this on my to make list:

A great addition to any front door! Thanks, Melinda at Under My Polkadot Umbrella!
